George Clooney is in the running for yet more awards for his performance in this moving, sometimes tearful, family comedy drama about a man who loses his wife. As different family members struggle to come to terms with ‘switching the machine off’ to let Elizabeth, mother of his two daughters, die in peace.
Readers of this blog will notice how the presence of her advance directive (living will) probably eases an emotionally fraught situation: at least it means her wishes are known. The film has earned five nominations at the coming Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Clooney.
